Prism-IPX introduces new products for encrypting and transporting paging messages which can be sent to compatible paging terminal switches or encoder systems that are capable of encoding encrypted messages.
The Paging Encryption Processor (PEP) server is used in small systems for up to 1,000 enabled pagers. Install at remote sites where messages originate and send to centrally located Prism paging systems for broadcast over the paging transmitters.
The Paging Encryption Server (PES) is used in medium to large systems with up to 100,000 enabled pagers and is designed to be installed in paging systems for customers that require their data remain within their network or premises.
Currently, the PES system supports Unication’s and TPL Systeme’s encryption protocols for Flex and POCSAG digital paging formats. Other encryption protocols will be considered based on customer interest.
Paging Encryption Processor (PEP)
The Paging Encryption Processor (PEP) is a basic paging message encryption processor designed for small paging system requirements. Uses TNPP routing to receive paging messages from a compatible external paging terminal, and to send encrypted messages back to a compatible paging encoder capable of encoding the data. Supports POCSAG and Flex paging formats.
Paging Encryption Server (PES)
The Paging Encryption Server is designed for medium to heavy use messaging systems. Paging systems send their paging messages to the PES via TNPP (serial or IP) as a cap page. Based on the configuration for that cap code the PES will either pass the message unencrypted, or it will encrypt the message before returning it to the sender’s system via TNPP ready for encoding and transmission.
The PES combines a simple web-based management system with a powerful encryption server. The PES web interface offers multiple levels of user access with different permissions. This allows for the control and security of encryption keys within the system.
SSL Message Transport
Since the standard TNPP protocol is not an encrypted transport, customers should add the Prism-IPX IPT Server with SSL transport to provide a secure link for the TNPP packets. The PES+IPT with SSL conveyed messages are never “in the clear” anywhere on-site or when messages leave the customer’s premises.
